Data Saving is one the most wanted and currently trending feature in mobile OS (AMP, Instant Articles, etc).
Few weeks back, Google update added Data saving feature to its Web browser Chrome. Likewise, Facebook is also ready to add Data Saving feature to it’s Messenger app. Though, the feature is currently only available in Beta version of Messenger. This feature was introduced so as to reduce the amount of data Messenger utilize. Facebook loves this feature and that’s why they are implementing it to Messenger app.
How Facebook Data Saver Works
Facebook Messenger Data saver minimize the amount of data used, you can find the setting in App’s settings. Also, no more automatic downloading of medias on Mobile network, you have to download manually or change the settings to download automatically.
This feature will take effect strictly on Mobile network. If your device is connected to a Wireless network, any form of media sent from friend via Messenger app will be downloaded automatically.
Like I said earlier, the app is still in Beta and might have more or less features than listed above but for sure, it’s saves your data and will no more eat up your RAM.
