Although these features are not yet available, staff from the Spanish publication MENSAJERIA MÓVIL plunged into beta version 2.16.150 and found evidence that image-editing tools might be among the new features coming soon to WhatsApp.
Among the 421 new files that were found, six new icons were still inactive and showed that, as in Snapchat, WhatsApp looks likely to receive image editing functionality. Among these files is draw_tool_background_normal.xml anddraw_tool_background_selected.xml.

On Twitter, one user already shared the app’s layout with new editing functions. According to the same user, the function is still hidden. I still can not make it work with my account:
Since Google used Snapchat to reveal for the name of Android 7.0 Nougat, I have started to pay more attention to the app, especially the features “Stories” and “Discover”. When I compare WhatsApp to Snapchat now, I can say that the latter offers a large number of extras in addition to messaging, so it’s easy to spend more time in Snapchat.
I believe that to continue improving apps, developers are beginning to invest more time in picture-sharing functionality, allowing users to share images with text, drawings and perhaps even more stickers.
How to download the beta version of WhatsApp
If you are interested in being among the first to try out new WhatsApp features, you can use the official beta version. Get the files from WhatsApp’s website.
With the program, new updates will be distributed through Google Play. For this, sign in with your Google account and download WhatsApp on your device if the app is not already installed.
After signing up, just wait for notifications about new beta version updates. Once signed in, you’ll no longer need to download the APK from WhatsApp’s site.
